An Exclusive Interview with Nadim Khan from M/s URA Systems

“Revolutionizing Blow Moulding in India “ : An Exclusive Interview with Nadim Khan, the Mind Behind India’s First Advanced Parison Controller that replaces imported ones.
In the industrial hub of Vapi, a powerful shift in industrial automation is underway.
URA Systems, founded and led by Nadim Khan, has developed India’s first high-performance indigenous parison controller — now installed in 100+ machines nationwide, directly replacing imported systems in New Machines and upgrading upgrading legacy machines.
In a manufacturing ecosystem that constantly demands precision, speed, and efficiency, breakthrough innovations are rare — and transformative ones even rarer. That’s why when we heard about India’s first Advanced parison controller developed indigenously, we knew we had to speak with the mind behind it.
We sat down with Nadim Khan, the technological force behind the innovation, and Mannan Khan, who manages sales, to understand how URA Systems is transforming the blow moulding industry.
Q: First of all, congratulations! Your parison controller is being called a game changer. What makes it so special?
Nadim Khan : Thank you! What makes our system special is that it’s not just another controller — it’s a fully engineered, high-precision parison control solution developed specifically for Indian manufacturing conditions and its users.
Until now, most advanced parison controllers were imported. They were expensive, difficult to service, and not always optimized for Indian factory environments. We saw a gap — and we decided to fill it.
Our system delivers:
- High precision wall thickness control
- Reduced raw material usage
- Improved bottle strength consistency
- User-friendly interface
And most importantly — it’s Made in India.
Retrofit Capability: A Major Industry Advantage
Unlike many global systems, URA Systems focuses heavily on retrofits to solve their manufacturing problem.
Older machines — even non-parison ones — can now be modernized with intelligent thickness control, significantly improving productivity without large capital investment.
This has been a major factor behind crossing 100+ successful installations.
Q: Being the first in India is no small achievement. What inspired you to develop this?
Nadim Khan : The idea came directly from the factory floor. We were constantly seeing manufacturers struggle with imported controllers which had no prompt support, high pricing, unavailability of spare parts.
I felt strongly that India has the talent and capability to build world-class control system. So we invested heavily in R&D, testing, and real-time plant trials. It took dedication, multiple iterations, and a clear focus on performance.
Today, seeing machines run smoothly with our controller installed — that’s the biggest reward.
Q: What challenges did you face while developing the system?
Nadim Khan : Innovation is never easy. Being first means there’s no local blueprint to follow. Managing personal life challenges are also a bit of hurdle to this but when having right people by your side then things become easier.
Some of our biggest challenges were:
- Developing precision control algorithms
- Ensuring durability in harsh factory conditions
- Convincing early customers to trust a new Indian product over imported brands
But once performance proved itself, confidence followed naturally.
Q: Hi Mr. Mannan, from a sales and market perspective, how has the industry reacted?
Mannan Khan : Honestly, the response has exceeded our expectations.
“Initially, customers compared us with other local Parison controllers who don’t have real control capability and setting the profile is also very difficult or a nightmare I would say. But once they saw the User Interface, performance, stability, and pricing advantage — decisions became easier. Now they see us as alternative or better one to only for Imported controllers.”
URA Systems offers:
- Competitive pricing
- Strong local technical support
- Faster installation and commissioning
- Customized solutions
- Immediate service response
Manufacturers no longer need to wait for overseas/MNC engineers. Support is local, fast, and efficient.
Q: Nadim, What message would you like to give to the Indian industry?
Nadim Khan : Believe in Indian engineering. We don’t need to depend on imported technology anymore. With the right focus and commitment, we can build products that compete globally — in quality, performance, and innovation.
Q: Any upcoming innovations is URA Systems working on?
Nadim Khan :
We are expanding beyond parison control to build a broader automation ecosystem for plastics machinery.
⚙ Q: Can you tell us about your Upcoming work in Moulding control technology?
URA Systems:
Our R&D team is developing advanced:
- High-precision servo pump axis control systems
- High-Precision proportional valve axis control systems
- Advanced Extruder Heating control systems
These innovations aim to:
- Improve hydraulic efficiency
- Reduce energy consumption
- Enhance response time
- Deliver smoother and more accurate motion control
- Better Polymer quality delivery
Our goal is to bring Indian blow moulding machines closer to global automation standards in cost effective solutions.
The Vision Ahead
Nadim Khan:
“Our goal is not just to sell controllers. We want to build automation platforms that make Indian manufacturing globally competitive.”
With:
- 100+ installations
- Direct replacement to imported controllers
- Retrofit specialization
- Upcoming servo and proportional control systems
URA Systems is moving beyond product manufacturing.
With over 100+ successful installations, direct replacement capabilities, strong local support, retrofit compatibility, and an expanding export strategy, URA Systems is not just manufacturing parison controllers — it is redefining industrial automation in India.
As Indian manufacturing moves toward higher precision and global competitiveness, innovators like Nadim Khan are proving that world-class engineering can be designed, built, and supported right here in India/Vapi.
