While ifm electronic India was incorporated as a private limited company in India in 2009, our operations here began much earlier. The ifm electronic liaison office was established in 1995. Over the past 30 years, our focus has been on delivering cutting-edge technology, building strong customer relationships, and expanding our footprint throughout the country.
In recent years, ifm India has been at the forefront of promoting Industry 4.0 and smart automation solutions. With the increased adoption of digital technologies, we introduced a range of connected sensors and cloud-based solutions, aiding industries in achieving greater operational efficiency, real-time data analytics, and predictive maintenance.
We have developed a dedicated sales & service team that provides technical support, product training, and after-sales service to ensure maximum uptime and reliability for our customers. This approach has significantly strengthened customer loyalty and brand trust. At present, we are servicing more than 3400 customers in India.

Our products are designed to boost efficiency and support Industry 4.0 across sectors like the automotive, machine tool and food industries.
Process Sensors: These include flow sensors for liquid and gas monitoring, level sensors for tanks and silos, and temperature and pressure sensors for real-time control. We also offer capacitive, inductive, and ultrasonic sensors for diverse applications—all built for accuracy and reliability.
Motion Control Sensors: Think Inclination and speed sensors for critical conveyer automation, rotary encoders for motor control, and vibration sensors for machine health. They ensure precision and uptime in automation.
Automation Solutions: Our IO-Link technology connects sensors to PLC seamlessly with binary communication without data loss. Vision systems handle quality checks, RFID systems for track and trace solutions. These solutions integrate easily to increase OEE of the manufacturing plant

Our new range of RADAR sensor is a revolutionary measurement system for steel, port and mining industries. Our Industry 4.0 software solution Moneo is another standout product for manufacturing Industry.

ifm India caters to a wide range of sectors. Major industries include automotive— for assembly line automation, and quality control. Food & Beverage – Ensuring process control, quality, and safety in production lines. Water & Wastewater—Improving monitoring and control of water treatment processes. Machine tools—Offering motion control and industrial connectivity for machinery automation. Construction machinery—control systems and sensors for mobile machines. Steel, Mining, port, wind energy and intralogistics are other focus industries we serve.
A&I UPDATE: Please Brief Us about Your Manufacturing Facilities & R &D Activities in India.
At present, ifm electronic India does not manufacture our products in India, and we get our products from our parent company’s manufacturing facilities located in Germany, the USA, and Singapore. But our parent company, ifm electronic GMBH, Germany, had founded another company, ifm engineering private limited, in 2010, located in Pune, with a focus on embedded software development for our vision sensors, identification systems, and mobile displays.
AI-UPDATE: What is your vision for 2025 & strategy for growth in Indian market?
By 2025, we aim to lead India’s industrial transformation, driving Industry 4.0 adoption and sustainability. We want to be the go-to partner for automation, offering smart sensors and IoT solutions to optimize operations. Our strategy? Expand our localized product range, strengthen service networks, push digitalization with IoT and cloud tools, build partnerships with OEMs and integrators, and reach Tier 2 and 3 cities. We’ll also focus on customer education to highlight automation’s benefits. It’s all about innovation, support, and growth.
