Optimum readability in all positions – new mechatronic flow meter with digital display

ifm electronic has fitted their new inline flow meters with a rotatable multi-colour display which is clearly visible from all sides. A red/green colour selection of the display values clearly signals to the user when the set values are too high or too low. Moreover the device has a fast response time of < 10 ms. 

Operating principle of the spring-supported piston

The piston located in the valve seat in the housing is lifted by the flowing medium against the spring. The piston position is monitored via a magnetic field sensor and output as an analogue signal. The spring resistance forces the piston to return to its original position with decreasing flow. This ensures position-independent installation of the flow meter preventing backflow. The sensor head can be rotated by 360 °C so that it can be read in any position. 

Configuration and features

Two switching status LEDs on the sensor head which are clearly visible from all sides indicate the set and reset points. The device is rated for medium temperatures up to 100 °C and can also measure and display the temperature. Thanks to the 3 pushbuttons setting is quick and easy. With the IO-Link functionality the user is more than fit for Industry 4.0
